When I discovered that I had low porosity hair, I read that baking soda is what those who follow the no-poo system used to cleanse there hair and it also opened the cuticles. So it sounded interested. Not enough for me to jump on the band wagon though. And of course not without doing lots of research :). So while baking soda has is truly a multi purpose product, from brushing teeth, air freshener, to drain cleaner, one of uses will not be on this head. My decision to refrain from using baking soda is a simple one: it is stripping and drying to the hair. It is a very harsh product when it comes to our tresses so I shall stay away.
I will continue to deal with my low porosity hair by cleaning with Castile soap and using warm water.
